Students from around the world, including the Arab region, can now apply for the prestigious Schwarzman Scholars Programme, which offers a fully funded one-year master’s degree in global affairs at Schwarzman College, part of Tsinghua University in Beijing.
Often compared to some of the world’s most competitive leadership programmes, Schwarzman Scholars aims to prepare the next generation of global leaders by bringing together outstanding young people from diverse backgrounds to study, live and collaborate in China.
The programme was founded in 2013 by American businessman Stephen Schwarzman, chairman and chief executive of Blackstone, to strengthen understanding between China and the wider world amid growing geopolitical tensions.
Successful applicants will begin their studies in August 2027. Candidates must have completed a bachelor’s degree before enrolment, although those who already hold postgraduate qualifications are also encouraged to apply. While there is no official minimum GPA requirement, successful candidates typically achieve the equivalent of a 3.5 GPA or higher.
The scholarship is designed for academically strong students who can demonstrate leadership potential, initiative and a commitment to creating positive change. The selection committee also looks for qualities such as integrity, empathy, intellectual curiosity, open-mindedness and entrepreneurial thinking.
