A cycle rally was held in the city on the occasion of World Bicycle Day – 2026 on Sunday.Pradeep D’Souza, Assistant Director, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Dakshina Kannada flagged it off at Mangala Stadium at 7 a.m. It traversed through Car Street, Clock Tower, PVS Circle, Lalbagh and Lady Hill, before culminating back at the stadium.Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) Dakshina Kannada, under the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, co-ordinated the rally with multiple organisations including NSS unit of Mangalore University, Mangalore Cycling Club, Surathkal Beach Runners, and We R Cycling Club.The theme of the rally was ‘cycling for a greener future.’The objective of the initiative was to motivate the younger generation to embrace a fitness-oriented lifestyle, prioritise health, and foster youth empowerment.Speaking on the occasion, Ullas K. T. K., Deputy Director of MY Bharat, Dakshina Kannada, said that the core objective of cycling is to build a healthier nation and urged the youth to actively participate in such nation-building fitness initiatives.
