Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Mysuru Palace sub-division, Chandrashekhar on Wednesday urged citizens, particularly the youth, to make cycling a part of their daily lives during World Bicycle Day celebrations in Mysuru.Speaking at the valedictory ceremony of a bicycle rally organised by Government Youth Hostel–My Bharat Mysuru in association with Mysuru Athletes Club, Royal Riders Mysuru, Cyclopedia Mysuru and Mysuru Cycling Teams, he said cycling promotes physical fitness, discipline and the importance of eco-friendly lifestyle while helping reduce pollution.More than 50 cyclists participated in the rally, which was held to spread awareness on healthy living, road safety and environmental conservation.The rally was flagged off near Kote Anjaneya Swamy Temple by B. Manjunath, Deputy Director of the Department of Public Libraries. Retired Deputy Commissioner of Commercial Taxes Ramesh Narasayya and Balya Foundation President Anil were also present.Akhil P., District Youth Officer of My Bharat Mysuru, outlined the significance of World Bicycle Day, emphasising cycling’s role in fostering a healthy and eco-friendly lifestyle.During the programme, Manjunath stressed the importance of regular physical activity, while Ramesh Narasayya highlighted cycling’s contribution to environmental sustainability. Anil praised the organisers for encouraging health and environmental awareness among young people.The rally traversed key city landmarks, including Harding Circle, Gun House Circle, Basaveshwara Circle, Ramaswamy Circle, Fire Brigade Circle, Kukkarahalli and Gaddige Road, before concluding at the Government Youth Hostel.Mr. Chandrashekhar said such initiatives help build a healthier and more environmentally conscious society.
