The Grand Chief Imam of Ogbomosoland, Imam Yunus Olushina Teliat (Ayilara II), has called on the Nigerian Government and Oyo State Government to intensify efforts to secure the release of abducted schoolchildren and teachers from communities in Oyo State, while denying allegations linking him to terrorism, banditry, or other criminal activities.

In a statement issued on Sunday, however, he said he had been deeply troubled by reports of the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in the communities of Ahoro, Esin-Ele and Yawota, describing the incident as distressing and heartbreaking.
"It is with a heavy heart but an unwavering faith in Almighty Allah (SWT) that I address our immediate community of Oyo State, and the global public," he said.
