MANILA, Philippines — As millions of students return to classrooms on Monday, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said it is “fully prepared and strategically positioned” to secure schools nationwide without compromising anti-crime and other public safety operations.

In a statement on Sunday, PNP chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. gave parents and guardians his assurance that protecting students remains the police force’s “absolute priority,” with more than 55,000 security personnel under Oplan Balik-Eskwela.

The deployment includes 28,751 police officers, 4,079 personnel from other units, and 22,677 force multipliers from partner agencies and community groups.

“This comprehensive deployment includes organic police officers dedicated to high-visibility campus patrols, traffic management, and the manning of police assistance desks, reinforced by auxiliary forces and community partners,” said Nartatez.
