Pedestrians in Gandhipuram continue to face difficulties as footpaths along several key roads remain inaccessible due to encroachments and poor maintenance.“Gandhipuram is one of Coimbatore’s busiest transport and commercial hubs, housing the Central Bus Stand, Town Bus Stand and the State Express Transport Corporation (SETC) Bus Stand. Footpaths on roads such as Dr. Nanjappa Road and Cross Cut Road are often occupied by street vendors, shop displays and parked vehicles, forcing people to walk on the road,” said M. Dharneesh, a pedestrian.
“The situation worsens during weekends, festival seasons and peak business hours. In several locations, pedestrians are forced to share road with speeding vehicles.”M.
