After identifying encroached stretches, corporations under the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) kicked off a city-wide ‘Safe Footpath’ campaign. Starting 10 a.m., GBA officials, along with the Bengaluru Traffic Police, began clearing footpaths on key arterial and sub-arterial roads that had been identified over the past few weeks, with the exercise scheduled to continue till July 10.The drive covered multiple constituencies across Bengaluru till 12 p.m. In Govindaraj Nagar, officials will take up the stretch from Ganapathi Circle to Madduramma Circle in Chandra Layout sub-division, and from BGS Ground to Shobha Hospital in Govindaraj sub-division from 12 p.m.In Vijayanagar, the drive will be carried out near Palike Bazaar in the afternoon. In Malleswaram, officials will clear a 1.5-km stretch of Sampige Road from 5th Cross to 18th Cross.The campaign will also cover a 1.05-km stretch on 12th Main Road in Rajajinagar 2nd Block, from Bhashyam Circle to the RTO Complex. In Basavanagudi, areas covered include Police Station Road (450 metres), DVG Road in N.R. Colony (600 metres), and Katriguppe Main Road (1 km). In Yediyur division, the drive will be taken up on 24th Cross (SLV Road) from 9th Main to 21st Main (700 metres), and on 80 Feet Road in Bhuvaneshwari Nagar (600 metres).In Bengaluru South, the civic body has identified Dr. Vishnuvardhan Road from Shanimahatma temple to Uttarahalli Circle (1.3 km), 80 Feet Road near R.V. Institute of Technology and Management (1.5 km), Kothnur Village Road to Byrappa Circle (1.5 km), and Vishwapriya Layout Main Road from Begur Main Road to 24th Cross (900 metres).In Padmanabhanagar, the drive will cover the Outer Ring Road from Bipin Rawat Park Signal near DG Petrol Bunk to 7th Main, Gururaja Layout (1 km).In Jayanagar, officials will clear encroachments along 30th Cross from R.V. Road to 9th Main (400 metres), and on 21st Main in J.P. Nagar from 9th Cross to the Outer Ring Road (430 metres).In BTM Layout, the campaign will cover 14th Main Road from HSR Signal to Jakkasandra Junction (800 metres), 4th Cross on Jyothi Nivas College Road in Koramangala (400 metres), and 7th Main Road in BTM 2nd Stage from 7th Cross to 29th Main Road (800 metres).
