On the northern stretch of Thiruporur Road, from the Government High School to the Hasthinapuram bus stand, office-goers and parents dropping children at school, are caught in traffic congestion due to roadside encroachments.
A similar situation prevails on the southern stretch from Vinobhaji Nagar 7th Main Road, where narrow road width compounds the problem. The two stretches converge at the junction, forcing vehicles to take turns onto Rajendra Prasad Road, a key link to MIT junction and GST Road.
Illegal parking
Encroachments on the southern side include illegal parking on a vacant plot, loading and unloading of construction materials at a shop, and haphazard parking in front of gyms and commercial establishments.
