Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is expected to announce the appointment of two new deputy ministers on June 11, government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis announced on Saturday.

Speaking to SKAI TV, Marinakis said the first change concerns the appointment of a successor to Konstantinos Kyranakis in his key role as Deputy Minister for Transport, after he was elected as the ruling party’s new secretary-general. The second appointment will fill the position of Deputy Environment and Energy Minister, after the death of Nikos Tagaras on May 29 from cancer.

The government spokesperson was quick to clarify that the moves do not constitute a broader structural reorganization of the government.

He also dismissed speculation regarding the replacement of Giorgos Mylonakis, the prime minister’s aide, expressing the government’s expectation that he will soon return to his duties. Mylonakis is receiving treatment at a rehabilitation center after suffering a brain aneurysm and undergoing successful surgery last April.
