Traffic restrictions will be in effect in downtown Athens from 8 a.m. to noon on Sunday for the Run, Bike, Care event, which includes a 10k and a 5k circuit.
Marking World Cancer Survivors Day, the event is expected to draw thousands of cyclists, runners and walkers for a recreational outing through central Athens and other cities across Greece. Organizers say the event aims to raise awareness and promote public engagement, bringing together people in a collective show of support.
Police said vehicle traffic will be temporarily and gradually halted along key roads on and around the race route, including Syntagma Square, Filellinon Street, Vassilissis Amalias, Vassilissis Olgas, Vassilissis Sofias, Vassileos Konstantinou, Panepistimiou, Akadimias, Stadiou and part of Syngrou Avenue.
Additional restrictions will apply on Irodotou Attikou Street and several connecting roads in the area.
The traffic measures will remain in force between 8 a.m. and noon, with police advising motorists to avoid the affected routes and use alternative roads to prevent congestion.
