Traffic restrictions are in effect Thursday around the Elliniko redevelopment site on Athens’ southern coast for the opening stage of the 2026 EKO Acropolis Rally.
Police said roads surrounding The Ellinikon Sports Park in the municipality of Elliniko-Argyroupoli will be closed to traffic and parking until 10 p.m.
The 1.86-kilometer asphalt stage, run in a parallel format, will mark the start of this year’s rally and will be broadcast internationally as part of the event’s global television coverage.
Authorities urged spectators to use public transportation to reduce congestion. Drivers were also asked not to park along Vouliagmenis, Alimou and Poseidonos avenues and to follow police traffic directions.
