When Derek and Cally Finnigan first saw the section in Matakana back in 2022, they were immediately charmed by the location and its potential. The catch? There was plenty of work ahead.

“The property and the land were not in great condition,” says Derek.

“The land was divided into three rough paddocks and the landscaping was completely overgrown.”

First to go were more than 20 Phoenix and other palm trees.

“We also took down all of the fencing between the paddocks to create one open field,” adds Cally. “For the first few years we worked very hard on the landscape.”
