The pillion rider of a two-wheeler taxi died after being knocked down by a truck at Chinthamanipudur junction late on Thursday.The police identified the deceased as Senthilvelu (50), a resident of Teachers Colony at Chinniyampalayam.According to the police, Senthilvelu went to a place near Sulur on Thursday as part of his job. He booked a ride back to his residence using the mobile app of a bike taxi service.At Chinthamanipudur traffic signal, a truck that came from behind knocked down the two-wheeler when the rider attempted to make a right turn to head towards Chinniyampalayam around 8 p.m.The police said that Senthilvelu died on the spot and the rider suffered injuries. The Sulur police rushed to the spot after being alerted by commuters. The police shifted the body to the Government Medical College and ESI Hospital for post-mortem.A case was registered against the driver of the truck. Published - June 05, 2026 08:22 pm IST
