Kasturba Hospital, Manipal, distributed over 5,000 fruit-bearing and medicinal plant saplings to patients and their attendants visiting the hospital on World Environment Day on Friday.World Environment Day, observed under the aegis of the United Nations Environment Programme every year, emphasises the vital role nature plays in building climate resilience and securing a sustainable future for generations to come. This year, the theme is ‘Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future’.The hospital’s initiative was aimed at encouraging individuals and families to actively participate in environmental conservation while nurturing healthier communities.Speaking after distributing the saplings, Avinash Shetty, Medical Superintendent of the hospital, said, “Every sapling distributed represents hope, growth, and our shared responsibility towards the environment.
