A recap for new readers: In late May 2026, Bulgarian authorities exposed a complex of 104 buildings constructed without permits in the Baba Alino locality near Varna, on land registered as forest inside a Natura 2000 zone. The investor was Ukrainian businessman Oleg Nevzorov, owner of KYB Corporation. The case has since pulled in DANS, the prosecutor's office, the Interior Ministry, the Varna municipality and the Ukrainian embassy in Sofia, raising questions about political protection at the highest level. Here is what has emerged in the last few days.

Nevzorov located in Turkey, may be avoiding mobilization

MP Boyko Rashkov, a former interior minister now with the "We Continue the Change" (PP) party, told reporters in parliament that Nevzorov is in Turkey. According to Rashkov, the businessman first crossed into Romania through a northern Bulgarian border checkpoint and has since moved on to Turkish territory. Rashkov suggested a reason for the destination: at 40 years old and visibly in good health, Nevzorov is subject to military mobilization in Ukraine, and returning home would mean reporting to the front. "Whether he has deserted from the army or not, we can only guess," Rashkov said. He also alleged Nevzorov remains in close contact with Ukrainian ambassador Olesya Ilashchuk, who has previously dismissed reports of his presence at the Sofia embassy as false.
