As many as 15.98 lakh (88.56%) of the 18.05 lakh electorate from the eight assembly constituencies in Dakshina Kannada have so far been mapped as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, said Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner and District Electoral Officer H. V. Darshan in Mangaluru on Thursday.Talking to reporters, Mr. Darshan said 15,98,723 of the 18,05,189 voters in the District have been mapped. For different reasons, including difficulty for booth level officers (BLOs) to get in touch with electors, and non-submission of details about their names in electoral roll in 2002, as many as 2,06,466 electors have not been mapped. From June 30 to July 29, BLOs will be visiting houses in their locality and provide two sets of enumeration slips to electors. “All those mapped and those who have not been mapped will be given the slips. Voters have to provide details and submit one set to the BLO and retain the other form with them. The BLOs will make three attempts to visit houses and collect the forms,” he said.Mr. Darshan called upon political parties to make their booth level assistants (BLAs) work with BLOs in connecting with voters and completing the SIR process. As many as 1,876 BLOs, 206 BLO supervisors, 10 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, and eight Electoral Registration Officers will be involved in the exercise.Alternative documentsVoters who have given details in the enumeration form about their names in the 2002 electoral roll need not submit any supporting document. Those who have not provided any details, should submit their birth certificate, passport or any one of the 11 acceptable documents, along with enumeration form. Voter facilitation centres have been set up at all polling stations to help voters submit enumeration forms. Shortly, facility for online submission of enumeration forms will be launched. The draft electoral roll will be published on August 5. Voters can submit their claims and objections between August 5 and September 4. The claims and objections will be heard and disposed between August 5 and October 3. The final electoral roll will be published on October 7, Mr. Darshan said. Published - June 04, 2026 09:16 pm IST
