VISAKHAPATNAMDays after the launch of the South Coast Railway (SCoR) zone in Visakhapatnam, its General Manager Sandeep Mathur on Thursday directed officials to maintain strict quality control and ensure that all station upgrades are completed within the stipulated timelines, following a detailed review of the Visakhapatnam-Ichchapuram section.With an extensive focus on passenger amenities, safety protocols, and ongoing station redevelopment projects, Mr. Mathur began the day-long inspection at the Simhachalam railway station, where engineering works under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and various projects are in progress to modernise station infrastructure.The GM later visited Kottavalasa, Srikakulam Road, Naupada, Palasa, and Ichchapuram railway stations. At each stop, Mr. Mathur closely inspected circulating areas, foot overbridges (FOBs), waiting halls, and platform shelters.Window trailing inspectionAccompanied by a team of senior officials, Mr. Mathur also carried out a comprehensive “window trailing” inspection during his return journey from Ichchapuram to Visakhapatnam, enabling the team to visually audit the health of railway tracks, signalling installations, bridges, curves, road overbridges (ROBs), and station yards, keeping operational safety as the top priority.During the visit, delegations from various public welfare associations and media representatives met with Mr. Mathur to submit memorandums regarding regional rail demands and development needs.
