Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Joint Campus Committee (JCC), Delta State Axis, Samson Ikpahwore Kisoranking, has been accused of participating in the violent disruption of a protest against insecurity and the abduction of schoolchildren teachers in Oyo State, after a video surfaced showing him threatening human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore.
In the video obtained by SaharaReporters, Kisoranking is seen displaying an orange RevolutionNow beret reportedly seized during Tuesday's assault on peaceful anti-kidnapping protesters in Ibadan.
Addressing Sowore in the video, Kisoranking said: “Sowore and co., this your beret, nah wetin una dey use intimidate us yesterday be this. You want to use RevolutionNow scatter NANS. See anywhere we see Sowore, we go show am werey (Sowore and his group, is this the same beret you used to intimidate us yesterday? You want to use RevolutionNow to scatter NANS. Wherever we see Sowore, we will deal with him).”
The video emerged amid allegations that members of NANS, led by the association's national leadership, were mobilised to disrupt a peaceful protest organised by activists and residents demanding the rescue of abducted schoolchildren and an end to worsening insecurity in Oyo State.
