Appearances to the contrary, Canada is heading into another labour shortage like that of the post-pandemic boom, only of longer duration, stretching to the end of the decade and beyond.
“The size of Canada’s available workforce will decline more than the population this year for the first time on record outside of the pandemic as more people retire and immigration slows,” Frances Donald, chief economist of the Royal Bank of Canada, posted recently on social media.
