Ontario’s police watchdog has cleared two Toronto police officers of wrongdoing in connection to a man sustaining serious injuries during his arrest in early January.
Joseph Martino, the director of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), found “no reasonable grounds to believe the injury is attributable to unlawful force” during the incident that saw a 31-year old man sustain a broken elbow, according to a news release.
The SIU is investigating after a 34-year-old man died after falling from a North York apartment during a police arrest attempt.
The SIU investigates all incidents of serious injury, death and sexual assault involving police officers.
