Yes, Ramkishore Singh of Rahua village in Muzaffarpur has made it possible. A 5 -year effort that bore fruitAccording to a report by ETV Bharat, Ramkishore Singh has named the mango variety as Nagendra Bhog after his late father, Nagendra Singh. The fruit soon grabbed attention in the village as well as across social media for its large size and distinct taste. Ramkishore Singh, who also runs a nursery, revealed that he experimented with different varieties of mangoes for 5 long years. The fruit grower hybridised 4 different varieties, carefully choosing traits like sweetness, aroma, shelf life, size and pulp, to develop Nagendra Bhog, and it turned out to be a successful venture. Special features of globally popular mango This particular Narendra Bhog mango stands out from the rest as it can grow up to 1 kg, with a rich, juicy pulp, a thin stone, and a balanced, sweet-tangy flavour, as per The Better India. Another exceptional quality of the mango, as shared by Ramkishore Singh, was that the fruit ripens late and does not get spoiled for 7-8 days after picking, making it easier for farmers to transport and sell them without heavy losses.Ramkishore Singh further stated that Narendra Bhog buyers are not limited to the local population, as people from across the country are also seeking information about the fruit. In fact, farmers and consumers from abroad are also showing interest in it, reported ETV Bharat. The fruit grower added that many are willing to pay a good price or even a higher rate for the mango plants and fruit. As per Ramkishore, this mango is currently selling for around Rs 200 per kg, whereas previously, its price ranged from Rs 100 to Rs 150 per kg.
