The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement that it carried out retaliatory strikes against American targets in the region in the early hours of Wednesday, June 3. The group said the attacks came in response to a US military strike on an Iranian oil tanker and several IRGC-affiliated facilities.

According to the IRGC, an Iranian oil tanker near the Strait of Hormuz was hit in an airstrike, causing damage to its engine room. In response, the IRGC claimed its naval forces fired missiles at a vessel affiliated with the United States and Israel, named “Panaya.”

The IRGC also said US forces targeted one of its telecommunications towers south of Qeshm Island. It claimed that, in retaliation, it launched missile and drone strikes at a US air and helicopter base in one of the regional countries, as well as the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet.

The IRGC ended its statement by repeating earlier warnings, saying that any action against Iran or any disruption to the security of the Strait of Hormuz would be met with an even harsher response, and that the United States must bear the cost of such actions.
