LUCENA CITY, Quezon — Despite the onset of the rainy season, the local government of Infanta in Quezon province on Wednesday urged residents to continue taking precautions after the town’s heat index reached a dangerous 49 degrees Celsius.

In a public advisory posted on its Facebook page at around 2:35 p.m., the local government said the 49°C heat index was recorded at 2 p.m. by the Infanta Synoptic Station of the Department of Science and Technology–Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

Earlier, the locality logged 45°C at 11 a.m. and 12 noon.
