Traders took a cautious approach to the new week, after the long weekend, as the bourse session on Tuesday at Athinon Avenue showed a mixed picture with minor gains for the benchmark, mainly thanks to nonbank blue chips. Motor Oil stood out with its 6.54% advance, with shareholders expecting another strong quarter after the first one of the year, leading to additional dividend payments.
The Euronext Athens (ATHEX) general index closed at 2,374.48 points, adding 0.08% to Friday’s 2,372.70 points. The large-cap FTSE-25 index expanded 0.07%, ending at 6,028.58 points, though mid-caps contracted 0.12%.
The banks index declined 0.21%, with Optima decreasing 1.13%, Eurobank easing 0.80% and Piraeus giving up 0.42%, while National climbed 0.10%, Alpha collected 0.26% and Bank of Cyprus improved 0.53%. ElvalHalcor jumped 4.55%, EYDAP gained 2.89% and Allwyn earned 2.74%.
In total 59 stocks boasted gains, 52 posted losses and 16 remained unchanged.
Turnover amounted to €323.7 million, down from last Friday’s €1.02 billion.
