Thursday’s bourse session was a mixed one, after the decline of the two previous days, with the benchmark being unable to stage a decent rebound and the majority of stocks ending up on the losing side. This serves to explain the reduction in the daily turnover, too. Banks showed a more notable reaction, while Motor Oil continues to benefit from the rise in global oil rates.
The Euronext Athens (ATHEX) general index closed at 2,492.20 points, adding 0.18% to Wednesday’s 2,487.60 points. The large-cap FTSE-25 index expanded 0.26% to end at 6,330.75 points, though mid-caps slipped 0.01%.
The banks index advanced 1.58%, as Bank of Cyprus grabbed 2.46%, Optima earned 2.39%, National obtained 2%, Piraeus improved 1.68%, Eurobank rose 1.35% and Alpha climbed 0.40%. Motor Oil grew 4.11% and EYDAP collected 3.81%, while GEK Terna gave up 2.44%.
In total 54 stocks registered gains, 59 sustained losses and 12 remained unchanged.
Turnover amounted to €258.7 million, down from Wednesday’s €358.6 million.
