The Greek bourse benchmark extended its losing streak to a fourth day on Friday, although it was on the mild side and without pointing to a long-term slide that would undo the recent growth that signaled highs unseen since late 2009. Traders appear resigned to instability on the geopolitical and technological fronts, so even some apparently positive or negative developments in either direction can hardly sway them significantly.

The Euronext Athens (ATHEX) general index closed at 2,449.29 points, shedding 0.10% from Thursday’s 2,451.62 points. On a weekly basis it conceded 1.08%.

The large-cap FTSE-25 index contracted 0.21%, ending at 6,203.62 points, though mid-caps expanded 0.98%.

The banks index declined 0.53%, as Alpha eased 1.66%, Piraeus gave up 1.38%, CrediaBank diminished 1.19% and National slid 0.33%, while Eurobank earned 0.47%.

In total, 46 stocks recorded gains, 61 suffered losses and 11 remained unchanged.
