Agunloye is being prosecuted before Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court sitting in Apo, Abuja, on an amended seven-count charge bordering on alleged official corruption and fraudulent award of the Mambilla Power Project contract to Sunrise Power Transmission Company Limited.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has presented its fifth prosecution witness in the ongoing trial of former Minister of Power, Olu Agunloye, over the controversial $6billion Mambilla Hydropower Project contract.
Agunloye is being prosecuted before Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court sitting in Apo, Abuja, on an amended seven-count charge bordering on alleged official corruption and fraudulent award of the Mambilla Power Project contract to Sunrise Power Transmission Company Limited.
The anti-graft agency accused the former minister of unlawfully awarding the multi-billion-dollar contract in 2003 without proper approval and due process.
At Monday’s proceedings, the prosecution called Iliya John Iyakwari, an Assistant Director of Legal in the Federal Ministry of Justice, who currently serves in the Federal Ministry of Power as an Assistant Legal Adviser.
