Nadiem's legal representative, Ari Yusuf Amir, stated that his client had conducted simulations to prepare for the plea presentation."Mr. Nadiem simulated the plea presentation yesterday," Ari said when contacted on Monday, June 1, 2026.According to Ari, Nadiem's personal defense statement consists of about 30 to 40 pages. Nadiem is expected to need about an hour to read the entire defense in front of the panel of judges.Following that, the legal advisory team will present their defense. However, Ari stated that the legal team will not read the entire defense statement, which is nearly 1,000 pages thick. "If we present all of it, it will be very thick. So, we will only present the summary," Ari said. The legal advisory team also prepared a presentation using slides and will display several video clips containing facts that emerged during the trial. According to Ari, this step is taken to show important testimonies for the defendant's defense. "There is a video that serves as an example that in this trial, there is testimony like this," he said. The plea trial is an opportunity for Nadiem and his legal team to respond to the prosecutor's demands, which were read on May 23, 2026. In the demands, the prosecutor requested the panel of judges to impose an 18-year prison sentence on Nadiem."Demanding that the panel of judges declare defendant Nadiem Anwar Makarim proven guilty of committing corruption together," prosecutor Roy Riady said when reading the demands. In addition to the prison sentence, the prosecutor demanded that Nadiem pay a fine of Rp1 billion, subsider 190 days of imprisonment. The prosecutor also requested the panel of judges to impose an additional penalty in the form of paying compensation amounting to Rp5.68 trillion. If not paid, Nadiem's assets could be seized and auctioned to cover this obligation. If his assets are insufficient, the punishment can be substituted with a nine-year prison sentence. In this case, the prosecutor accused Nadiem of enriching himself by Rp809.59 billion and enriching 12 private companies that became Chromebook procurement vendors. The prosecutor believed that the procurement of Chrome OS-based laptops was carried out for business interests related to Google and PT Aplikasi Karya Anak Bangsa (AKAB), a company founded by Nadiem, which later became part of PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia after merging with Tokopedia in 2021.The prosecutor also stated that the Chromebook laptops procurement has caused state financial losses amounting to Rp2.18 trillion. This value consists of Rp1.56 trillion based on the results of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency's audit and around Rp621.38 billion from Chrome Device Management procurement.
