Sivaganga police registered a case against two persons, including a policeman, who allegedly created a ruckus in an inebriated state at a restaurant in Thiruppathur.Police said, Melvin, 33, posted at the Thiruppathur Town Police Station and his friend Shanmugam, 35, had gone to a restaurant on Karaikudi Road on Sunday.Shanmugam lay down on the table in an inebriated state. The restaurant owner Marimuthu questioned them about this leading to a verbal duel.Following that, they allegedly attacked Marimuthu’s son, Saravanan, at the restaurant, who sustained injuries and was admitted to Thiruppathur Government Hospital.Based on a complaint lodged by Marimuthu, the Thiruppathur Town Police registered a case against the policeman Melvin and Shanmugam.
