The police have arrested two persons in connection with an assault following a drunken altercation at a bar in Thirumangalam.

According to the police, the victim, K. Bharathsithan, 24, was consuming alcohol at a private bar in Thirumangalam on Sunday, when four unidentified men were making noise while watching a cricket match. When Bharathsithan questioned them about the disturbance, the group allegedly abused him with foul language, physically assaulted him, and later attacked him using empty liquor bottles lying nearby. They also issued death threats before fleeing the scene.

Bharathsithan, who sustained bleeding injuries, was admitted to a private hospital for treatment. Based on his complaint, a case was registered at the Thirumangalam Police Station, and an investigation was launched. During the probe, the police arrested two accused — Kuppan, 36, of Ambattur, and Ramesh, 37, of Perungudi. Efforts are on to trace the remaining two suspects involved in the incident, the police said.
