The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Niger State chapter, has demanded the immediate rescue of their colleague, Tony Eghagagara, a medical doctor who has remained in captivity for the past 34 days.
Eghagagara, the Head of Medical Services at New Bussa General Hospital in Borgu LGA, was kidnapped on April 22, 2026, from his private clinic in Wawa, Borgu LGA.
In a statement signed by Aliyu Mohammed Chapa,
NMA secretary, called on the Niger State Government and relevant stakeholders to intensify efforts to secure the release of the doctor.
The association also expressed displeasure over the failure of the state government to implement the new, improved CONMESS table for state doctors, despite the workload and appalling working conditions.
