Tiruchi MP Durai Vaiko reviewing on Saturday the status of various overbridges under construction in Pudukottai.

Tiruchi MP Durai Vaiko on Saturday held a review meeting over the progress of construction of overbridges in Pudukottai.Collector Aruna and senior officials participated in it. Construction of overbridges at Karuvepilan and Thiruvapur has been the long-pending demand of the people of Pudukottai. Mr. Durai Vaiko, who had a coordination meeting with the officials on January 28, reviewed the progress of commitments provided by the officials at a meeting held at the Collector’s office.He said that the Karuvepilan overbridge was to be be implemented by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). It was part of the four-lane work of the Tiruchi-Karaikudi Highway. At the last meeting, it was informed that the Land Plan Schedule would be submitted to the Revenue Department by February 2026. However, officials explained that there had been a delay because of the Assembly elections. The officials had promised to submit the Land Plan Schedule by the end of June 2026. The land acquisition work would begin after that. It was expected that the work would be started in March 2028.As far as the Thiruvapur overbridge was concerned, Mr. Durai Vaiko said it was informed at the last meeting that the land acquisition work would be completed within two months. However, it was reported that there was a delay in the work due to differences of opinion among landowners regarding the compensation amount.
