Following the publication of a report regarding severe burns and improper care of children at a State Welfare Organization (Behzisti) center in Tehran's District 22, the facility has been temporarily shut down, and legal proceedings have been initiated against its administrators.
According to the report published by KhabarOnline, in late April, one of the children under the care of this center was transferred to the hospital due to burns caused by hot bathwater. However, an early discharge and inadequate medical attention to the child's condition caused the burns to worsen and the wounds to become infected, ultimately leading to the child's admission to the intensive care unit (ICU).
The report further states that certain center staff members transferred the child to the hospital under a false identity without informing the Welfare Organization or the child's family, presenting themselves instead as family members. Once the situation came to light, the matter was reported to Social Emergency services and regulatory bodies, leading to the opening of two judicial cases to investigate the incident.
Confirming the core of the incident, the State Welfare Organization announced that charges have been filed against both the technical manager and the license holder of the center, and its operations have been temporarily suspended. According to the organization, investigations into potential negligence or malpractice in the care and treatment process of the children are ongoing, and the final decision regarding the permanent closure of the center rests with judicial authorities.
