According to reports received by IranWire, children’s rights activist Afshin Heiratian remains in temporary detention without a verdict at Evin Prison after 255 days. Despite repeated appeals by his family, judicial authorities have consistently denied bail and temporary release for the Bahá’í citizen.
Security forces violently arrested Heiratian on November 11, 2025, after raiding his mother’s home. He has spent more than eight and a half months in pre-trial detention.
A court hearing in Heiratian’s case was held on Saturday, July 18, at Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Iman Afshari.
Heiratian, 46, is a member of the Society for the Defense of Street and Working Children and a well-known children’s rights advocate.
He has a prior history of arrest and imprisonment due to his civil activism and religious beliefs. In the 2010s, the Bahá’í citizen served a four-year prison sentence in Evin and Rajai Shahr prisons.
