The Iranian Labour News Agency, ILNA, reported on Thursday, May 28, quoting Behrouz Morovati, the director of the dissolved Campaign for the Defense of the Rights of People with Disabilities, regarding the critical situation surrounding the procurement of hygienic products for individuals with disabilities, describing the status of this group in Iranian society as critical.

The disability rights activist stated that due to disproportionate budgeting, families are unable to afford hygienic supplies for their disabled family members. He noted that "sometimes individuals are forced to reuse single-use items such as diapers, catheters, and Nelaton catheters multiple times," a practice that leads to severe infections and sometimes even death.

In this report, ILNA interviewed several family members of individuals with disabilities, including a mother in South Khorasan Province who cares for two children with severe disabilities. She stated that monthly costs, particularly for purchasing diapers and sanitary items, have multiplied, and the family's subsidy and income can no longer keep up. The report also confirms that in recent months, especially following the war, amid the skyrocketing prices of hygienic items, the stipends paid to individuals with disabilities have not only failed to increase but have also been paid with delays.
