No fewer than five persons, including children, have lost their lives in a fatal road accident in Ilesa town, Osun State, on Thursday, sources said.
According to witnesses, the crash occurred following a head-on collision between a Hummer bus and a commercial minibus, popularly known as a koropo, around nine o’clock in the evening at Omi-Asoro Junction in Ilesa Thursday.
Speaking, one of the survivors said the Hummer bus filled with goods, including phone accessories and electronic appliances, was coming from Ilorin on its way to Warri, Delta State, before the accident happened.
“Five fatalities were recorded at Omiasoro junction, Ilesa, following a fatal accident due to reckless driving in Ilesa on Thursday evening, ” an eyewitness account said. The impact of the collision was so severe that parts of the vehicles were mangled beyond recognition, with dead bodies scattered on the highway and nearby bushes.
