Littler broke down in tears after beating Humphries to win the Premier League on Thursday night before revealing his struggles with the crowd.‌The 19-year-old said that he'd told girlfriend Faith Millar that he had considered throwing in the towel during the difficult earlier weeks of the competition.‌He said: "After Brighton and the incident in Manchester, I was sat at home saying to Faith: 'I don't want to do it anymore, just the crowd every week'. "I said to her: 'I'm down bad'."‌Littler was booed by crowds during the 17-week competition after clashing with Gian van Veen in Manchester. It clearly affected him and his beaten rival Humphries has urged fans to stop.“I think darts needs Luke Littler, Luke Littler doesn't need darts. That’s the truth," Humphries told SportsBoom. “I think everyone thinks he's a robot. He's not, he is a normal person, a good kid as well, I think that's why he's trying to show everyone that.”Littler described the Premier League season as a "rollercoaster" and credited his family, friends and girlfriend for sticking by him. He wrote on Instagram: "This Premier League has been one of the toughest tests for me and wouldn’t have this without everyone by my side. Can’t thank you all enough for that. We did it."‌After hitting double 20 to win the deciding leg against Humphries, Littler let out a lot of emotion and became teary when speaking shortly afterwards.“What he said there would have been emotion," Humphries reflected. "We never put the darts down because you're not going to do that. This is the reason why he is here, because he's such a great darts player.‌“It's hard because I've had it before, you know, for no real reason. I just had the crowd on my back up, after I beat Luke in the world championships, everyone just hated me for no reason.“It's hard because you're kind of at home and you don't actually want to go and play darts because it kind of feels like everyone just hates you and don't want to see you play.”Littler was joined by his family, girlfriend Faith and friend Angry Ginge for the final at The O2 in London. He averaged 111.67 and threw 12 maximums to claim the trophy and £350,000 in prize money, avenging his 2025 final defeat by Humphries.Article continues belowThe world No.1 has joined darts legends Phil Taylor, Michael van Gerwen and Gary Anderson in winning the Premier League more than once, following his 2024 success.Choose Daily Mirror as a 'Preferred Source' on Google News for quick access to the news you value.‌Luke LittlerLuke Humphries
