TWO police officers from Pietermaritzburg are set to appear in court today following their arrest for alleged corruption linked to a bail money request.

The officers, aged 41 and 42, who were arrested by members of the Provincial Anti-Corruption Unit, will appear in the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate’s Court.

Lieutenant Colonel Paul Magwaza, a provincial police spokesperson, said police in KwaZulu-Natal are acting on their commitment to root out corruption and criminality from within the service.

He said a case of common assault was registered at Alexandra Road Police Station on February 28.

Magwaza said it is alleged that on March 3, two police officers, accompanied by the complainant in the assault case went to the workplace of the suspect in the matter.
