LUCENA CITY, QUEZON, Philippines — Local residents missed the annual Maytime parade in this bustling capital of Quezon province on May 28, a long-running festival spectacle known for showcasing the city’s cultural heritage, creativity, and community spirit.
“Although the cancellation was announced last month, my grandkids were still very disappointed. They anticipated seeing popular movie stars, celebrities, and the colorful parade,” said Maria Theresa Sanchez, a newly retired government employee.
Late last month, the Pasayahan sa Lucena 2026 Executive Committee announced the postponement of most activities lined up for this year’s festival.
