LIBON, Albay — Colorfully dressed performers took to the streets on Wednesday (July 22) as the municipality staged its annual Paroy Festival to honor the resilience of farmers despite the challenges posed by the prolonged dry spell.
Seven contingents showcased the different stages of rice farming—from land preparation and planting to harvesting—through street dancing and theatrical performances, while reminding the public of agriculture’s vital role in ensuring food security.
The festival, launched in 1997, is one of the highlights of Libon’s fiesta in honor of St. James the Greater.
