Police in Patra, western Greece, have filed charges against a man accused of abducting and assaulting a 14-year-old boy in what authorities are treating as a racially motivated attack.
According to police, the incident took place in April, when the suspect and several unidentified accomplices assaulted the teenager on the street and forced him into a car.
The attackers then drove the boy to a public square, where they beat him and burned him with a lit cigarette, causing bodily injuries, before abandoning him at the scene.
Investigators said the assailants hurled racist abuse at the boy, whose parents are Indian, during the attack, prompting authorities to classify the case as racially motivated.
