MANILA, Philippines — Kidapawan Bishop Jose Colin Bagaforo on Thursday again urged the government to pursue cases with sufficient basis against public officials facing corruption allegations, emphasizing that accountability should apply to everyone.
Bagaforo, chair of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines Episcopal Commission on Inter-Religious Dialogue, said corruption “continues to erode public trust, weaken democratic institutions, and deprive the Filipino people of the honest governance they deserve.”
He made the remark amid recent corruption allegations involving public officials, including senators and Vice President Sara Duterte.
