MANILA, Philippines — It’s the certainty of punishment—not the death penalty—that would deter corruption, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla said on Monday.
Remulla made this remark at the Office of the Ombudsman officers in Cebu province, where he also inspected a flood control project.
“It’s not the death penalty that will give a deterrence to corruption. It’s not.” Remulla said in his speech. “It is the certainty of punishment.”
