Toronto’s chief of police made his first comments about a Star report that officers flashed a badge while being detained by authorities in Barcelona for allegedly assaulting a woman earlier this month.
On May 13, three Toronto officers: Evan Glennie, Richard Rand and Caglar Yigit had been in a taxi with a woman when local police responded to her cries for help. She reported to police on scene that she had been sexually groped and assaulted. Glennie was charged with sexual assault and assault. Rand was charged with resisting arrest, while Yigit fled, but was later arrested in Mallorca and charged with assault.
