When the APC in Gombe State adopted Dr. Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna as its consensus governorship candidate in early May, Pantami erupted.
Two weeks. That is all it took for Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy to go from calling the APC's consensus process "oppression" and a "coronation," to crossing over to the PDP and doing the exact same thing. Worse, he did it in a party whose members he had publicly branded infidels and kafirs from the pulpit.
This is not a man who changed his mind. This is a man who will say anything, use anyone, and invoke any authority including religion to get what he wants. And Nigerians need to see it for exactly what it is.
He Cried "Oppression" Then Became The Oppressor
When the APC in Gombe State adopted Dr. Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna as its consensus governorship candidate in early May, Pantami erupted. In an interview with BBC Hausa, he rejected the outcome, calling it a "coronation" rather than a legitimate consensus. He said consensus requires the personal agreement of every aspirant involved. He accused the party of violating the 2026 Electoral Act. He withdrew from the APC primary on the eve of the vote, warning that the process was an act of oppression against aspirants who had been sidelined without consultation.
