The PDP aspirant, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, alleged that Pantami was making moves to “forcefully take over” the opposition party in the state despite having fully participated in the APC governorship process.
A governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State has accused former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, of attempting to defect to the PDP in a bid to contest the 2027 governorship election after withdrawing from the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary race.
The PDP aspirant, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, alleged that Pantami was making moves to “forcefully take over” the opposition party in the state despite having fully participated in the APC governorship process.
According to the source, electoral laws would prevent Pantami from contesting under another party after participating in the APC primaries.
“Isa Ali Pantami by law has participated fully in the APC primaries and by the electoral law he cannot ‘cross carpet’ (defect) and contest in another party,” the PDP contestant claimed.
