The aspirants, in a communiqué issued on Sunday, warned the leadership of the PDP against an attempt to smuggle Pantami into the party’s governorship primaries despite his participation in the APC primaries held on May 21, 2026.

Governorship aspirants under the Peoples Democratic Party in Gombe State have openly rejected an alleged move by former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Ali Pantami, to defect from the ruling All Progressives Congress and participate in the PDP governorship primaries after already contesting in the APC exercise.

The aspirants, in a communiqué issued on Sunday, warned the leadership of the PDP against an attempt to smuggle Pantami into the party’s governorship primaries despite his participation in the APC primaries held on May 21, 2026.

The communiqué, titled “Power to the People” and dated May 24, 2026, was jointly signed by Alhaji Abdulkadir Hamma Saleh, Hon. Khamisu Ahmed Mailantarki, Usman Aliyu Garry, and Monica Kaltho.

The aspirants said they considered it necessary to publicly state their position following widespread rumours that Pantami was planning to defect to the PDP solely to contest in the party’s governorship primaries.
