Residents, mostly women, staged a protest on Wednesday in front of a Tasmac shop at Ayyankulam on Dindigul-Palani road. They raised slogans and demanded the closure of the Tasmac shop.The protesters led by Councillor Mariammal (Ward 11) said the residents of the locality had repeatedly complained to the Dindigul district administration regarding the functioning of the Tasmac shop in the area.They said the Tasmac shop was located close to residential blocks and commercial establishments. It caused public nuisance, the residents said.As no action was taken based on the complaints, the residents, led by Councillor Mariammal staged a protest. They raised slogans demanding the immediate closure of the Tasmac shop.They protested in front of the Tasmac shop, blocked its entrance and staged a sit-in protest.
