The head of Greece’s air and rail accident investigation authority has died, the agency he headed said Wednesday.
Georgios Dritsakos, a former Air Force Lieutenant General, was appointed board chairman of the Hellenic Air and Rail Safety Investigation Authority, or HARSIA, in April 2024.
He was a former head of the Civil Aviation Authority.
HARSIA handled, among other cases, the investigation into the February 2023 Tempe rail accident that killed 57 people, issuing its findings in February 2025.
A HARSIA statement described Dritsakos as “a source of inspiration and guidance.”
