NCC Cadets during the second edition of National Trekking Expedition AP Trek II at Araku Valley in Alluri Sitharama Raju district on Tuesday

The second edition of the National trekking expedition, ‘AP Trek – II’ commenced on a grand note at Araku Valley of Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) district, on Tuesday. The expedition was organised under the aegis of the NCC Directorate of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and hosted by the 13 Andhra Battalion NCC, Visakhapatnam.Cadets from various states across the country participated in the programme, which aims to promote endurance, discipline, leadership qualities and national integration among the youth.The cadets were divided into two groups. One batch of 120 cadets undertook the challenging trek to Galikonda, one of the highest peaks in A.P. The trek through mist-covered hills, dense forests and rugged terrain offered cadets an exciting and physically demanding experience. The second group of 120 cadets participated in a trekking expedition in the Malasingipura region.The camp is being supervised by NCC Group Commander (Visakhapatnam) and Camp Commandant Commodore Sumanth Roy. He said adventure activities help uncover the hidden potential of young participants and strengthen leadership qualities, resilience during difficult situations, discipline and unity.Apart from trekking, the cadets also visited several prominent tourist and heritage locations in Araku Valley, including the famous Borra Caves, Katiki Waterfalls, Tribal Museum and Padmapuram Gardens.
